Is a president required to execute the law of the land?

they said they would not defend it. based their decision on the obvious discrimination that homosexuals endure in this country. the law is stacked against them. this decision will end in the supreme court. the attorney general will not defend the bill. the court will have to rule against the state invalidating the bill.
